Aug 11 - Roswell NM

We did laundry this morning and headed out to Roswell to check out the famous crash site of 1947. 4 ½ hours of driving, and we saw absolutely nothing – for real! Based on what I can see, the aliens must have thought that our planet was uninhabited, and that is why they have not been too eager to return! You could really spend days at the UFO museum. There were walls and walls of newspaper articles, government documents and pictures. Rich got a pin for his hat, Bryan got an alien guitar pick, Lindsey and Erin got stickers, and I got an official security pass for complete access to area 51 in Nevada! (I’m pretty sure that it’s legit!).

Downtown here is really fun! We saw “Out Of This World Heavenly Coffee”, “Be In Touch” communications, “Starchild” clothing, “Alien Zone” gifts and the coolest “Wal-Mart” with aliens and spaceships all over the building! Even the lamp posts were made to look like aliens, with the eyes that were coal black when the light was illuminated.

We didn’t realize how close we were to Carlsbad Caverns, so we will try to get in on an early tour tomorrow. We had a Bar-B-Q dinner delivered right to our trailer tonight! This is the nicest KOA we have stayed at so far!
