We drove to Carlsbad Caverns today. LeeAnne and Paul had never been there before, so we planned to spend enough time there to take two different tours and have lunch. The drive from the KOA to the caverns was really pretty! All of the cactus were budded out and almost ready to open – probably a day or two after we left L We could see bright red, pink, and yellow. We couldn’t stay to see the bats exit the caves, but we hope to see them in Austin at the bridge! I felt so bad that this was my second time in Carlsbad without seeing the bats, so I decided to adopt a bat! I got an official adoption certificate, instructions on how to build a bat house, a picture, and the history and info on the bats of Carslbad. I will most definitely come here again because the caves are awesome, and there are still some tours that we have not taken. Paul said that this was perhaps the coolest place he has ever seen J
We left the caves around 3pm and headed to Junction,TX. It was about a 6 ½ hour drive, so we drove all the way and BBQ’d hot dogs at the KOA for dinner. Tomorrow it is off to Austin to celebrate LeeAnne’s B-day!!
