Aug 5, 2010 Buffalo Bill's grave and Casa Bonita

We left Glenwood Springs and continued our drive through the Rockies. Beautiful scenery all the way! We stopped in Vail, Avon, and Breckenridge. Couldn’t do any shopping because there was no room to park or turn around with the RV L We found a Wal-mart in Frisco with a big parking lot, so we pulled in and made lunch on board. Then we stocked up on groceries and headed on to Denver.

We passed a sign for Buffalo Bill’s grave and decided to turn around to check it out. Glad we did! He was buried on Overlook Mountain in 1917 at his request. His family built the museum there and ran a small gift shop. It is now a much bigger stop with a viewing area that looks out over Denver, an ice cream and fudge shop, gift shop, museum and a Buffalo over look.

We decided to stop and see Casa Bonita just outside of Denver. It was featured in the coffee table book of things to see in the USA. It sounded really crazy! It is billed as the world’s largest restaurant. It is three floors with cliff divers, magicians, puppet shows, a mariachi band, gift shops, artists and more! The food was pretty good, even though the reviews didn’t rate it very highly. It was a fun place, and I’m glad that we decided to eat there and not just take pictures because we would have missed everything that was going on inside. You can’t get in if you don’t eat there – ha ha ha. We left Denver and continued on to Colorado Springs.
