Aug 1, 2010 - Tonopah, NV

We left bright and early today (hahaha) at 1:30 pm for our next RV journey! We have Lindsey and Erin on board and are headed to Tonopah, Nevada. This isn’t a long trip, but we are planning to go over the Tioga Pass through Yosemite and it is quite a grade.

What a beautiful trip around the park! We saw Half Dome, Mono Lake, and Tuolumne Meadows. After leaving Yosemite, we went through Inyo National Forest, then out to the great expanse of NOTHING! Really, we were the only ones on the road for hours! There was one section for about 15 miles that went up and down like a roller coaster. Our stomachs left us over and over and we screamed and laughed for what seemed like hours! OK, then it started getting dark and it wasn’t so funny anymore. Finally a few lights on the horizon (a very few). We pulled into Tonopah at 11:00pm. The RV “Park” is a special area of the local grocery/casino parking lot that has a few spots set aside with hook ups. Good enough to spend the night, and the grocery store was really great!

Tomorrow we head out into the desert and hook up with The Extraterrestrial Highway!! This will take us through Area 51 and the Little A'Le'Inn.
