On the road again! This time we are traveling with Jeanette and Larry (that's their fifth wheel ahead of us in the picture) and two couples from their camping group. We were going to meet up with everyone at the truck stop at the top of the Altamont Pass this morning, but too many trucks and no room for us :( So, we went to the first rest stop along highway 5 near Lathrop, CA. There we got our "official" travel packets mapping out all the fuel stops and directions to all campgrounds for the trip. It's even color coded! Pretty slick! We drove to Kettleman City for our first fuel stop and ate our pre-packed lunch in the RVs. We encountered LOTS of fog, but high enough to see, and it was extreamly cold!! One more stop before the Tehachepis, then it was on to Barstow.
Wow, I can hardly believe that we actually pulled into this campground before dark!! That is definitely a first for us here. We barbecued hamburgers and shared side salads and snacks. It was fun :) Tomorrow it is on to Furnace Creek, no electricity or water hook ups. Bring it on!!
Glad you had a good first day - and pulled in before dark! Wow!
