Today we headed for the Alamo! It was very impressive to see where the actual battle took place. Jim Bowie (a renowned knife fighter - the "Bowie" knife) and David Crockett were among the many who died in the siege. We watched a short film on the history of the Mission and how it came to be known as the Alamo.After walking around the gardens , we went to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch, then off to the River Walk! It was decorated with thousands of Christmas lights. We took a boat all around and learned a bit about the history of the many buildings and Hotels along the water. We also learned about the flood gates and lock systems that are there along the San Antonio River. We took lots of pictures, then went to Michelino's Italian restaurant for dinner. We sat very close to the water, and all the lights were beautiful! A mariachi group played for us as we ate! It began to get very cold, so we called it a night, and will explore more tomorrow.
